Just Parrots Aviary is located in the beautiful Sierra Foothills in Placerville, CA., which is 45 miles E of Sacramento.  Just Parrots Aviary has been raising birds for over 16 years.  We started off believe it or not with one pet parrot, an African Grey named Paco.  By then, the breeding mode came back to me.   Paco is still with us along with about 100 other birds! I had raised birds several years ago back in the Midwest but got out of it when my kids came along.  I then moved to CA, met my current husband and wanted to get back into birds again after I got Paco. I started off with just a pet, but most people know, you can't just keep one!  After that, we started acquiring pairs and they kept on growing. 

I operate a small aviary.  By doing that, I can handle all the babies by myself and don't need to pan them out to other handfeeders. That way I know each baby, it's habits and everything that comes along with each baby.  Each baby gets individual care that it needs. I handfeed using a syringe so that the baby can "taste" the food. I believe babies must taste their food.  I don't use gavages or tube feed unless the baby medically needs it.

I keep the baby with the parents as long as I can to get a good healthy start in life.  After that, the baby is pulled, put into a warm brooder and put on a feeding schedule that he/she needs before weaning. 

The babies are weaned to a great diet of Roudybush pellets, zoopreem fruit flavored pellets and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  They eat for at least 2 weeks on their own before they are shipped and or sent home to their new owners.  That assures me that they are more than ready to go home!

With plenty of dogs and other activities around, the babies are used to other pets, other people, normal household noises that would occur in a typical household.  You can always give us a call or email if you have any questions on your new baby even after they leave from here.  My concern and care doesn't end when the baby leaves my house, I'm available even afterwards!
